URGENT HELP: Oil Level Light
« on: October 04, 2015, 03:21:01 pm »
Hi all,

I was driving earlier and my yellow oil level light and instruction to "check oil level" displayed.

I checked the oil level and topped it up a little but the light has stayed on.

I have checked the bonnet microswitch and cleaned it, my oil level is fine, I have cleaned the oil level sensor plug that's in the sump and checked all fuses both under the bonnet and in the cabin.

The car is starting and smooth as ever.  The red light is not on and has not been on.

Am I right in thinking that it could be the oil level sender in the sump itself?  Am I ok to drive it as I know the oil level is fine?

Thanks

if your dipstick is telling you your oil level is perfectly ok then yes your safe to drive, as millions of cars still rely on manual dipstick level testing rather than relying on warning lights etc :happy2:
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

Mine did exactly the same, cleared itself after a few days.

Yup mine did the same...

Cleaned the bonnet switch and it still did it...
Following day it was gone!
