Gearbox Oil
« on: October 02, 2015, 08:59:44 pm »
Hey all,

Looking to do my gearbox oil over the weekend as mines getting a bit notchy.

TPS are quoting £40+ for the OEM oil which I know most people swear by.  Ive also looked at Motul and Redline too but was wondering if anyone had used this stuff:

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.0_2005/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/car-tranmission-oils/manual-transmission-fluids/?522776022&0&cc5_868

Its the same grade and apparently made by the same manufacturer of the OEM stuff (unsure if this is true).

I know most are going to say OEM but has anyone used the Triple Q stuff?

Cheers

75W90 is not the same grade. Get the OEM stuff for the sake of a few quid and what will probably be a one time change

I used non-OEM oil once, it made the gearbox stiff, and crunch. Soon resolved with a swap with OEM oil  :happy2:
