It all depends on your journeys and right foot. I normally only get 250 miles to a tank around town, if that..... but on a run I've managed over 420 (across europe)

Stop worrying about mpg and just fill it when the light comes on..... or go back to a diesel. Your call.

Driving "normally" with the occasional sharp acceleration for overtake etc my 58 Gti generally gives 30mpg on short runs which gets up nearer 35 for a decent motorway jaunt. Compared to 15mpg from a G-Wagen petrol I ran for a while it's completely fine as a compromise of car cost versus fuel cost, newer cars are more frugal or you go for a grunty deisel and get even better for your dosh, BMW 530d for instance. Every car is a compromise in some fashion, need to decide on which compromises you can live with I suppose.

Don't worry too much because in the next five years they are going keep raising the price of diesel so it becomes cheaper to run cleaner small petrol engines.. Expect to see diesels banned from London congestion charge in the next 5 to 10 years also..

Wow! Well at least you had fun burning all that fuel beddie!

Yes great advice, as I've recently acquired the car I'm going to do an oil change anyway so I know what to top her up with. So I might as well just get a full service and I'll keep on top of the pressure too.

I wanna do a resonator delete so it sounds abit better than stock and enhances the dsg gear change sound? What do you reckon guys?

Also would any of you guys know how much would vw charge for a touch up pen? I need one for a few stone chips, mine is in reflex silver. Thanks
