235 Tyres On 8.5" Wheels
« on: October 07, 2015, 01:40:20 am »
Folks, I've a set of wheels that are 18", 8.5" wide and ET45. In the coming weeks my car will be lowered on Eibach Sportlines and I'm keen to find out if the car would rub with 235 tyres. Does anyone have this set up?

I realise I could go 225 with no hassle, but would rather go for 235 with a little extra comfort if I knew it wouldn't rub.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have that set exact set up, but had 19, 8.5 on a 225 and it was close

Go 225 to be safe, last thing you want is to shell out £££'s on tyres that might rub

Anyway you won't get any extra comfort from a wider tyre, only if you were to change the profile, ie from 40-45, but you don't want to do that

The overall diameter of an 18" wheel with a 235 is greater than that of a 225, which means the profile is greater on the former. I know it's only 5.5mm odd on each side, but that would affect comfort to some small extent.

You will notice nothing, the difference you speak of, would be like dropping a sugar cube in a swimming pool.

Just trying to help dude  :happy2:

No worries, I appreciate the input.

If 235 worked it would be my preference just.

I would put money on it they would rub, a friends winter wheels are 19x8 with 235's with rolled arches and they still rub sometimes

I agree completely, 235 would be best for an 8.5j, but rubbings a real possibility once lowered
