Keep us updated with this mate, it'll be good research for me! It does sound like a quality set. Should have some nice depth with the 8".

I've ordered mine from Germaniks. Cheapest online for the setup. I will self install the speakers and then may take it to TeamSPB for an amp setup at a later date.

Can't find the 3 way set listed on that site - how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?

I am also looking to upgrade my front speakers (currently have the 10 speaker system with 3 ways in the front). Is it simply a case of removing the VW ones and replacing with aftermarket speakers of the same size? Does any wiring have to be changed, and are there any adapters needed at the headunit? (I have an RNS 510). Thanks.

The Gladen setup is plug and play. If you go other aftermarket systems, you are going to have to cut and chop speaker wires.

I have some Rainbows was going to try them without an amp to start with just in place of the VW speakers, but I think they need an amp after looking at the instructions!

The decent speaker setups will need some cutting as the OEM wires will route to a crossover unit. From there you will need to wire from the outputs to the speaker.

Very true, I have the added problem of having 2 crossovers per door, not sure if there is enough space inside the door card to fit!

I managed to fit my Hertz ESKL 163 crossovers behind the doorcard.
The Hertz ones are massive. You should be fine .

Did you fit an amp as well? If so whereabouts - under the passenger seat?

Amp goes in the boot :) but come up with any solution.  As all depends on what amp youre using and how big it is etc. .
