1.9 TDI - Loss Of Water - Overheating?
« on: September 28, 2015, 08:52:44 am »
Cars been driving great since the new battery and starter motor, but the other day the temp light was flashing, got it home and the water was very very low, so I filled it up and it was fine again for another day or so, then came back on, so topped it up a little this time when cold. Then yesterday the temp gauge shoots to 110, it usually still sits perfectly at 90 even when the temp light was flashing. Now it goes up to 110ish and the temp light doesn't come on? it just goes up?

If you tickle over 2000 revs then it goes up to 110, if you sit back under 2000 it goes to 90?

Still pulls and drives fine? Any suggestions, please don't say HG or WP!!

Could be waterpump or possibly the thermostat? Have you ever changed either?

Nope neither have been change to my knowledge! To test the thermostat is it waiting for the car to get to 90 and then feel the top radiator pipes and see if they are hot/warm someone was saying?

£3.41 for a thermostat, might change that first. I did have hot start problems but a starter and battery seemed to make it better! But this is also linked isn't it? Hate to think the price of a waterprump!
