Did you have VW approved washer fluid in the tank?

I was reluctant to name the dealership in the spirit anonymity...since you ask it was Wayside in Dunstable.

In their defence we did come to an amicable arrangement in the end - but boy was it hard work when it should have been a hassle free and pleasant experience.

It was at the time when the rear washer went "tits up"...  I only got to use the washer jets in vigour during the snow with all the salt being flicked up on the screens during motorway driving.

Whilst on the subject would it be ok to use this cheap and cheerful screen wash additive:

vRStu:
You should use the approved stuff.  Using 'other' stuff is often the cause of the pipes blowing off.

Not sure about VW but I know Skoda have issued a Tech Service Bulletin about it and enforce it quite rigourously. Wrong screenwash and no warranty claim.
