Thanks, but if you knew me, you wouldn't be saying that

It's more like, I have 2 weeks off work for the first time in a year and a half and I'm at a bit of a loose end. I'm not used to having time on my hands and I don't need to go anywhere in the car, so why not use the opportunity to do something that takes ages  :happy2:

Anyway, it's all done now...

After:

It's hard to photograph as the light reflects off the clear plastic, but it looks totally different in the flesh.

Thank you.

Right then, get some spare headlights and I'll do them for you. I only charge main dealer rates of £85 per hour. I think I could get it down to about 4 hours of actual work from start to finish so that's £340.

Nope, any golf WITH a red stripe doesn't look right!  :P

VW dropped it on the mk4 for a good reason, it was old fashioned. Like the old SRI's, XR3's etc of old, they all used to have red/blue/green stripes down the side and boy do they look dated now.

There seems to be this weird retro revival going on at the moment which I'm not a fan of. VW didn't need all these throw-backs to the mk1/mk2 (like the red stripe and tartan interior) to make the mk5 good. I like clean lines and modern smooth looks which is why I have full leather and got rid of the red grille stripe. My next move will be to paint the brake calipers body colour as I don't like the red on those either

At the end of the day, everyone has different tastes (which is good!) and I'm not in to retro.

etto , but imo the return to the mk 2 days is what made the mk 5  what it is , ive owned mk 2 , 3 , 4  and 5 golf gti s and the mk 3 & 4 were not what the gti should be and i think a lot of gti enthusiasts will agree
car does look clean and smooth though if thats the look your after  :congrats:
