Hi Guys,

i have an 2007 golf gti mkv with 107k km, after going stage 2 tuning i can see a puff of blue smoke when I'm cruising a downhill with my leg off gas and after a stop and start to move again i can see a puff of blue smoke from my exhaust..this happen on 1st gear or 2nd gear(if not fully stop).
i have changed my pcv and problem still exist..a friend told me to check the valve cover and i did but couldn't make sure its cracked but i can see some oil in my rear breather tube(rear pcv) which has no valve inside it(old version).

any help would be much appreciated.

Try an R Tech PCV Delete mate. usually works. mine does the same.

Oil inside rear breather is fairly normal. I doubt an R-Tech PCV delete will help in this instance. You'll probably find its either from the turbo or valve stem seals. Did it start shortly after removing the catalytic converter for your stage 2 map? If so then it could well be coming from the turbo

yes bro exactly..i was on stage 1 +revo intake for more than 1 year and car was fine..no smoke at all and no smell if burned oil at all..after going stage 2 with dp the problem started and i can see a buff ib blueish smoke when going downhill and when start to accelerate after downhill finish, smell of burned oil most the time..

i have 2 options now..change valve cover or change turbo..u sure its turbo related bro?

Thanks

Can't be 100% by guessing over the internet. Easiest way to check is remove the downpipe and check for fresh oil, or re-fit the cat and see if it goes away

This is becoming a well known, unexplained problem and 100% isnt the turbo. Id put it down to a high amount of vacuum in the inlet after a long over-run period (off throttle) and then opening the throttle opens the butterfly and the mass of vacuum sucks some oil through the breathers/ PCV.

If it starts after removing the cat then it could well be the turbo passing oil. Doesn't denote turbo/bearing failure but an imbalance between backpressure and internal oil pressure within the turbo

Its only when throttle is opened though, so that means its coming from the inlet side and nothing to do with exhaust back pressure..?

Touching the throttle changes both back pressure and internal oil pressure, as well as reducing vacuum in the inlet. Kinda hard to do one without the other. Easy way to rule it out is to check the downpipe or refit the cat

The oil pressure isnt changed by just touching the throttle lightly..

I cant work out what you think is actually happening? Its not oil coming past turbo seals on a one off occasion!
