Golf 5 2005 - Locking module problem - Driver side rear door
« on: October 25, 2015, 08:58:26 pm »
First I want to say hello to all because this is my first post and I hope I will have a good time on the forum :)

I have a problem with my with my driver side rear door locking module. I found the error using VCDS ( Locking Module for Central Locking; Front Driver Side (F220): Implausible Signal ). First my problem was when I tried to unlock the door sometimes it would unlock but sometimes it wouldn't, same was with the locking (both with remote and key). So I removed the module and the first thing I did was I checked about wire problem but everything seems good, there aren't any broken wires. I took of the whole module and opened it. The module was perfectly clean and there were no signs of leakage or something. After reading manuals and watching lot of videos I cleaned it again and tried to attach it and the problem was still here. The next step I did was to test the electro motors. The module has 2 electro motors. I tested the first one using an 12v adapter powering it on the pins 1 and 2, the motor was working great. I did the same with the second electro motor using pins 1 and 7 same result, the motor is functioning great. The module was able to unlock and lock (+ - to 1,2 pins to lock and - + to same pins to unlock, same for both motors) the door using the adapter and powering the electro motors one by one. I think there is a problem when both motors are powered at the same time and they are not functioning correctly. The gear on the first motor is getting stuck at the middle of the neck and the second motor gear can't go all the way up so it can push the plastic part which tells if the door is locked or unlocked. I think they are not synchronized or maybe the power which the main module is sending isn't correct (like I said to unlock you need - + to lock + - to the pins) or maybe the main module is sending different signals to the motor, lets say the first to unlock and second to lock so maybe that is the reason it is getting stuck at the middle of the gear neck. If anyone had a similar problem I would be very pleased to hear and I am looking for some help. Thank you all!

Lock modules are common issue with VW cars. Just buy a new one. They're about 20 - 30 euros new from eBay. Don't waste your time trying to fix it.
