What control module have you got? Scan the car with vcds and it will tell u the part number

if your taking about the same style of wheels in your other thread, if there from the mk6 there is only one controller that will work with the mk5 that's the CH controller, usually found for 40 quid on ebay from china, if there mk5 wheels then many contollers should work but would need part numbers or as suggested a scan
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

It is quite common on used mk6 wheels for the horn wire to be ripped out internally when the black plug has been disconnected from the loom.

If you have fitted and coded it all right and still have no horn, then split the cover off your left side buttons and see if a small internal wire has come away from the plug.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks for the reply guys it's a mk 6 wheel going into a mk6 golf sorted the airbag problem but can't seem to code it?
The controler I have is a CQ is this the problem do you think
I know when I did my mk 5 I had to change the controler but at least when I fitted that one the bloody thing lit up this one I get nothing

Hi Cath, I said for a mk5 you need a ch controller,  I was assuming you were putting your wheel in a mk5,  so hold off on the CH as I have no idea what you need for mk6 sorry :(

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions

CQ is a midline module so that is why it can't be coded, in that case it looks like you have the module with integrated steering angle sensor, so from the table you are best off getting a CD highline module.
Pretty sure you can get them cheap from Aliexpress.

Like Si says, CH is the best for a mk5 wheel into a mk5 but there are other things to consider when fitting a MFSW into a mk6.

Thanks skard the guy I got the wheel and airbag from should have the controler as well so in theory as the wheel and airbag came from the same car the controler should work everything?
It's all from a mk6 that he is breaking it is about a year newer than mine but hopefully tomorrow I can give him a call and check the part number

Update for you guys

It seems that a mk 6 needs to have a steering wheel controler ending in cd unlike the mk 5 that requires a ch so to try to help any one else who may have this problem

If you have a mk 6 without a mfsw and retro fit a mk 6 mfsw you will not be able to code it unless you have the controller ending cd hope this helps any one who try this
I must just add that I would not have got to the bottom of this with out the help from you guys
And a big thanks to skard the guy is a diamond  :happy2:
