New R32
« on: December 20, 2008, 08:48:34 pm »
Right, initial impressions - considering I have driven it like an 80 year old OAP back home - is that it feels less hardcore, softer and manic than my Edition 30.  Its weird because I remember when I changed my 06 plate GTI for a new 56 plate R32 and I remember it being a harsher ride and more urgent.  Of course, to be fair, I have spent in excess of £5k modding the Edition 30 and its running at 321.4bhp... just shows how quickly you get used to power increases as the Edition 30 feels like a standard one to me now!  But the R32 is our family car and for that its excellent - my wife loved the ride and thought it was very soft and compliant  . Well it would be compared to the Bilsteins I have on the Edition 30!  I'm sure it'll reveal its true character once its run in though.  I'm very happy with it as its exactly what I wanted, something that is a family car but still sporty with bags of character- the R32 - and a hard core tuned track car - the Ed30.

Nathan might not be jealous but I am!!!! :fighting:

You've really got the best of both worlds - A tactile and fast GTI and a comfy R32 with a V6 soundtrack. How are you going to resist a Milltek on that V6!?

just shows how quickly you get used to power increases
I learn't that one many years back its why i always have a low powered small engine car in my fleet that way when i think about changing one of the GTIs etc for something faster as i don't think its that good anymore i get one of the put puts out and use it for a few weeks until i learn the art of driving again in low powered 50bhp cars. I then get back in the GTIs and there like rocketships. Saves me a fortune in 'upgrades'. Also meens i have a car i can use in bad snowy winter times when the weather gets real bad on certain days.
