Cost? 3rd year time & distance service
« on: December 21, 2008, 08:58:56 pm »
Hi folk. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much the 3rd yeat 'Time & Distance' servoce is likely to cost me nex year.

Are there any 'extra'things that need doing?

I always have Longlife oil put in even though it's a t & d service.

My car is a manual and has almost covered just 5,800 miles from new if it makes a difference to anything extra needed.

Thanks

Haha thats madness, maybe ask them to empty the ashtray for the first time or put some extra wear on your seats so it feels like your getting your money's worth out of the service. :signLOL:

I will be lucky if i do 5000 a year myself i have often wondered if there was any way people like us could do a deal with VW over the warranty because yours will be up soon with about 1/6 of the expected miles, your car is only just run in and yet what would happen if god forbid your engine blew. and it was outside the warranty, hardly seems fair.  :nerd:

That's a good point and one i've often considered.

Many faults wouldn't develop in the mileage i've covered. I have considered extending the warranty but again I think i'd be on diminishing returns and it just adds to the 'pence per mile' to run.

If anything major developed just outside warranty with such low mileage, I guess I would have to see what VW's comments would be .....and kick off if necessary.

My car will be 3 years old in May but I will have the service done end of April just in case anything crops up during the service.

I've had the usual things sorted - rear wiper motor, mirrors which don't unfold, re align door panels. The only thing I haven't had fixed is the condensation in the high level brake light and it sometimes drops down a bit at the right hand side. I'm too scared to let any dealer take the rear spoiler off with a cheese wire to rectify   :scared:

I agree its heart and balls in mouth time for dealer visits.  :chicken:
I have been very lucky with mine so far not one fault or rattle so no dealer visits needed yet, my first service is not due until may and i am already dreading it. My plan is to just sit in the car while they do it, with a picture of the misses to warn them of their fate should they feck up.   :innocent:

I've had my purchasing dealer leaving me voicemails over the past month regarding a recall....some sort of fuel low pressure sensor change required.

I'd rather break down than risk a trip to the dealers though  :signLOL:

I'll get it done during my April service visit.
