Removing it isn't necessary. The only reason for cleaning the TB is remove the gritty carbon build ups that can form around the spindle area, which can affect the throttle position sensor slightly when it comes back down to the idle position.
I would just pop the intake hose off and give it a clean in said area. Carb cleaner and a cloth and just prop the TB open with one hand, scrub with the other. You'll need a mirror too as the TB faces the floor. Once you've done that, run a throttle adaptation in VCDS and all should be golden again. Oh and do that with the ignition off as moving the TB manually with the ECU on can create problems.
