RNS315 MFSW - My brain hurts!
« on: October 23, 2015, 05:15:59 pm »
Good day all,

Newbie here and I always thought I could get my head around a bit of tech but bloody hell, it's a minefield of differing opinions and experiences but just picked up a 2006 DSG car and it's an absolute minter  - I'll get some pics up soon!

I did however buy it on condition and not spec therefore, Id like to upgrade to MFSW (just bagged up a DSG Wheel with controls), Cruise (again picked up a stalk but may need the module!?) and for work I really need Nav and Bluetooth handsfree as I'm on the road a lot.

Question is, is the RNS315 the way to go and can it be mated to the MFSW?  Some say yes, some no.......I don't mind that it doesn't work with the highline display but first hand experiences appreciated muchly!

All the best from South Staffs.
Dru

I guess this is a well trodden path but there is still some ambiguity from my somewhat limited knowledge of the topic! Any advice on which solution (rns510 + Bluetooth V's rns315) is the best route would be gratefully received!

Thanks
Dru

I have seen people use a Connects2 system to "enable" steering wheel controls, but I think it also depends on if you have the red MFD screen or the newer white LED screen, the red ones are more limited as to what is available ie what it will display.

re getting a bluetooth module, vw do two types a simpler basic mute version and a much more expensive (circa £300) media streaming version. As i only wanted basic calling on my RCD510 unit, i went aftermarket with a parrot CK3100 evolution module, cost me £70. very clear well worth it ( I had previously had a parrot minikit visor mount unit
