Washing the car, in this weather???

i have to say while the snow and stuff is on the road i dont bother to much

i can completely understand why!

i like to get all the salt off the car. i Know our cars are incredibly robust these days, but i have a Morris Minor in the unit thats mint. If it was holding as much salt as my golf is right now, it would completely kill it! haha!

yeh, i guess getting the salt of is a good idea, and i do wash it still, i just wonder why lol

Well the sun is out now and it seems to be thawing the snow. Like I said it was real bad on the motorway. I just want to get rid of all that salt!
Im gonna do a real careful 2 bucket wash. I have just rinsed the car really well, and I'm going out with the born to be mild!  
After that, I doubt i'll be getting stuck behind 3 gritters in 1 day again, so I will just use the hose/foam, until the weather gets a bit better.

Pre winter I gave the car two coats of wax and to keep things going I foam the car, wash mitt of with the 2bm then use another product while wet and dry off as this has a carnuaba content and leaves a nice glossy finish and its cheap .
Snow melted of the car today and beading still good.

For light dirt I am fairly coming round to this ONR method

Id advise people to avoid doing a "contact" wash as much as they can in this weather with the salt and grit about.

If the car is well protected, then a snow foam (or similar pre wash) and high pressure rinse will get the majority of the crap off the car.

Well the snow is going here in Harrogate & the air temp is going up so guess what i'm doing this weekend  .

So far Iam chuffed with how the car has faired up this weather. I just foamed it on sunday and went round to Mini to get details of the new arrival and the sales guy was amazed that the golf was a 57 plate he says it looks new. that long sunday clean was well worth it now.

I love having a clean car in the winter. I think I know why it always looks cleaner than clean too. Most cars carry a thick layer of sh*t becuase of the salt, then comes a detailed car and the difference is greater than that in the summer. It's a great feeling. Is that sad? But it doesn't stay clean as long as it does in summer. Good to know that it's fully protected!

I dont know about your roads but with the salt running out the council here dumped tons of gravel everywhere it just ting ting ting when you drive with it firing all about, brutal.

Yep I'm having to keep Like 300m behind anyone. It does my head in. Even when I'm driving nowhere near anyone I can hear loads from the arches. The front facing part of the side skirts in the arches are beat to sh*t on my sh1t on my car!

I'm really considering buying a cheap pressure washer, so then I can get in on the group buy for the lance and snow foam

defiently recommend the pressure washer with snow foam it makes a big difference.  Prior to cleaning my car sat it was covered in salt/dirt.  The snow foam defiently helped removal prior to washing.

ONR - is this easy to use I have seen on other websites and was seriously considering this?  Does it give as good performance as the better shampoos like dodo and lusso etc?
