R32/S3 front brakes: which pad for 340 mm discs?
« on: October 28, 2015, 11:37:19 am »
Hi,

I'm going to fit TTS 340 mm front discs to replace my R32 345 mm front discs in my GT Sport. I got Brembo Sport discs that weight 9,1 kg instead of the 12 kg that the R32 discs weight.

Do I need to get TTS brake pads or can I just get R32 brake pads? R32 pads are cheaper, that's why I'm asking. Looking at their specs the TTS pads are 155x73x20 mm vs the R32 that are 156x75x20 mm.

Thank you for your clarification.

Thanks Rich.

The link from Amazon states 9.1 kg for these Brembo Sport: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005O9EGL6/ref=pe_386191_41384461_TE_item.

I've got those on my R32 with the Brembo Pads in the link below and they're excellent. Not only do they save weight but I find they're less 'grabby' than my OEM discs and pads (Ferodo) and seem much smoother. They certainly stop my R32 in it's tracks when needed.

I was thinking of getting EBC Redstuff. They have less cold bite from what I was told (which is good for my wife who has a heavy foot for the brake pedal and a light foot for the gas) and better heat resistance. I can get them for 61 £.

Those Brembo pads cost 39 £ with shipping from Oscaro.es: http://www.oscaro.es/juego-delantero-de-4-pastillas-de-freno-brembo-p-85-079-1988688-10017-p.

Pity, I was hoping for a bigger weight saving. Thanks for clarifying that as well. :happy2:

I've not tried EBC pads so don't know how they perform. The Brembos are very good though and great from cold as well. Very smooth and progressive compared to the OEM Ferodos which could be a bit 'snatchy'.  I paid a couple of pounds less than the current price from Amazon.
