Sooooo.... I picked up my new car today
« on: October 28, 2015, 10:38:24 pm »
As the title says.... I decided after 4 1/2 brilliant years and constant smiles that the 'old girl' needed to go. So today was the day to chuck her in p/x against 2010 steel grey Mk6 R. Spotted it at a dealer in Leicester. Put the deposit down on Friday and made the 200mile round trip today to pick it up. I must say that it absolutely blows the GTI outa the water. I went from manual to DSG. Wow! What an awesome piece of technology. The car feels insanely quick, even standard (for now ) and im thoroughly please with my purchase. Thought id share it with everyone. Im beaming from ear to ear

I agree, I drove my pals mk6 r dsg the other day (standard) and it's feel much quicker than my standard mk5 gti. Wasn't expecting much with the extra weight. Was wet greasy roads so I pulled over and hammered it to 60, no wheel spin no fuss just power and grip (in the sticks, no traffic). Still not keen on dsg pretty boring for me  :indifferent:

So guess what I've started saving for?

The DSG is a breath of fresh air for me. The 'old girl' was at stage 2 and the original clutch. So was always thinking in the back of my mind that itd just let go at some point. It didnt... Luckily.

Good on ya. Ive been eyeing one up for 2 years. I decided to pull the trigger early last week. My Mrs is absolutely in love with it and she doesnt understand all the fuss us lot make over VAG cars. Let her have a little go and shes already on the trader looking for s tronic Q3's

So can you see the pics or not?

Thanks Pete. I have to agree. I wanted the blue initially. Saw mine... And fell in look straight away. The pics dont do the car justice. Its a stunning thing

Does anyone have any info on the ACC suspension? I have it and ive been flicking between comfort and sport.

Nice choice!  :happy2:

You need to click on the 'insert image' icon which will put 'img' in square brackets before your link and '/img' in square brackets after it.

Enjoy!

Lovely car, though I had one for 6 months and it was annoyingly laggy compared to my previous mk5 GTI. To this day I think it had way more lag than it should have. Ended up selling for a lag-free R32

One thing that was a big plus on the mk6 was the 4-motion seemed a lot quicker to kick in than on the mk5.. but that's progression for you!
