Steering Wheel Control Module
« on: October 30, 2015, 04:00:27 pm »
Sorry if this is a stupid question but just want to make sure that I buy the correct part!

I'm looking to retrofit cruise control and MFSW but need to buy a new control module, I currently have 1K0-953-549-CA which is midline and would not work with the steering wheel, I found 1K0-953-549-CH on eBay but it says it is for Mk6 Golfs, would this work in my Mk5 or not?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-MFSW-MF-STEERING-WHEEL-MODULE-Fit-For-VW-GOLF-MK6-GTI-1K0953549CH-/201050053523?hash=item2ecf845b93:g:l9kAAOSwuTxV7oE2

Thanks in advance!

Very keen on finding this one out too, I was just about to type the exact same thread! I also have the RNS510 and want to be able to control it with the wheel. Ive been looking into this alot, I found this very useful:

http://uk-mkivs.net/topic/10129-how-to-multifunction-steering-wheel-mk5-golf-h/

http://uk-mkivs.net/topic/10129-how-to-multifunction-steering-wheel-mk5-golf-h/

Only prob I found is this particular part number is not for sale second hand, I phoned VW and they replaced the part with a BK i Believe on the end however this one for some reason is £242!!(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-VW-SEAT-Skoda-Highline-Steering-Control-Module-Cruise-MFSW-1K0953549BK-/371310081361?fits=Car+Make%3AVW&hash=item5673ce3551:m:m0DY1DJWK__3CmxpgNCr1Uw)

I have a 2009 Golf mk5 and I read somewhere that the software is updated and if I had an older module then only some of the buttons would work?

I have looked a lot and cant seem to find a definitive answer. Any help also appreciated!

Look into the car parts section, there is highline module for ~25 quids or buy CH new one.

I found this which seems like a decent price to me:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MF-Steering-Wheel-Module-Cable-Cruise-Stalk-For-VW-Golf-GTI-6-Jetta-5-/161505383691?fits=Plat_Gen%3AMK+V&hash=item259a78950b:g:aJ0AAOSwAL9UfTn7

Only problem is the airbag wiring loom part number is 5K0971584C which is for a mk6 I believe? Is this loom any different to 1K0971584C?

Would it make a difference if the part number does not have the C on the end?

Nice. Did you get them all second hand on eBay? What was the part number of the module?

Is there any benefit of buying a genuine module or are these ones from China fine?

Ive had mine in for over a year with no issues. ive fitted at least 10 in the last year and not had anyone report any issues too.
