Will this scratch Machine Polish out?
« on: October 31, 2015, 10:49:51 am »
Hi,

I came back to my car last night to find a scratch on the drivers door. The only tools at my disposal are Super Resin Polish, after washing the area this morning and applying polish, this is the result, a very light scratch, but still visible. Looks like the bump strip took the brunt of the damage.

The area feels very smooth still, the scratches must be light. Would this kind of damage machine polish out? Or would it need to be wet sanded/ machine polished? Or repainted?

Appreciate your advice! I hate car parks...  :fighting:

I think you'd have a good chance of machine polishing that scratch out, if as you say ,the scratches aren't that deep. But it will need more than super resin polish. I'd go for a light cutting compound to start. Are you willing to invest in a DA polisher? It would probably cost the same to bring it to a local detailer.

Thanks for the advice.

I've considered a DA in the past, but with no clue how to use one properly, I'd rather take it to a professional who knows what they're doing! I thought I'd gauge opinion on here first, thanks again. I will pop in to see a detailer next week!

You should consider one. Lots of tutorials on YouTube and on here. They are really easy to use, as long as you start carefully and with a low cutting compound you'll be grand!!

Impossible to say without trying.
Ive removed worse but sometimes they look better than they are.
Only takes 5 minutes to try to remove it..

If its on plastic as well you have to be careful not to cheew up the panel.

Edit. On door. Too tired lol.
