Hello everyone
« on: November 09, 2015, 08:52:21 pm »
Hi All,
I'm Kieran from Burbage, Leicestershire, UK.  Recently picked up a Black '05 plate Mk5 Golf GTI and I'm loving my experiences so far  :happy2:
I am a bit of a modder don't like to keep a car standard that's boring in my eyes however not going crazy with the Golf (hopefully)
Looking forward to exploring the wonderful world of GTI ownership and meeting people along the way
Will get some pics up shortly

Had experience with r-tech before-absolute great bunch of guys and really know there stuff. Had a stage 2 mk1 octavia Vrs mapped by them before the Golf that was some fun :)

My thoughts so far are:
Performance wise just thinking of a stage one map from r-tech. Want to stiffen the body up a bit but not going stupidly low again so maybe 30mm springs and some anti roll bars. Think the standard sound of the car is ok but could do with a bit more grunt so possibly resonator delete or exhaust. Knowing me I'll say I won't do much and I'll end up doing all sorts haha

Welcome to the site mate.

And yeah, so many of us on here started out intending to stay stock or subtle, but that rarely lasts!

Good plans you've got to start off. I'm Stage 1 R-Tech, 30mm H&R springs (very popular choice), and a few other bits. BCS (now called Powervalve) make damn good exhausts, with proven power gains of 20bhp upwards. I'm working towards Stage 2 at the minute, which involves a turboback Powervalve, R32 rear, and another trip to R-Tech. Slippery slope.

Have a look into an anti-lift kit if you want to focus the handling. And get the dv, pcv and cam follower checked/changed (a quick search will explain).

Edit - not a fan of the mirrors either, rest of the car looks good

Thanks for the info. Already done the dv have a cam follower sitting on the side waiting to go on probably tomorrow fingers crossed and will look into the pcv

Yeah think the mirror covers may have to come off haha

Welcome as well Sheeny. I agree black is a nightmare to keep clean but when it is clean there's no better colour!
