Mk5 Ed30 brake upgrade for occasional track day

I chipped my 2007 ED30 up to 300BHP earlier this year and running a few track days here and there, UK and on the continent. Fantastic fun, but now it's time to address the severe brake issues, especially in the (occasionally!) hot summer weather. Most of the time the car's used on the road so I can't justify spending £1,500 on the brakes.
I trawled the posts and found several old links from way back, 2011 etc. From these I gather I have standard discs so believe my R18 wheels have 312mm front and 286mm rear discs.
I need to get this up to 345mm front and do something at the rear.  It maybe possible to transfer the fronts to the rear and just upgrade the front or is it a new set all round?
Can anyone suggest part numbers for new fronts inc calipers, hoses and shields? Same for rear if necessary? I bumped into this link along the way, seems like a cheap solution....?

Hi Gordy, I think you have two options with your budget and intended use in mind.
S3 upgrade - pros are it's cheap and works well, cons are you can still stretch them too far on track as I did even with DS2500 pads in (which I think is not the best pad choice for track but great on road) and ATE Super Blue fluid. Take the rears as well as they're vented. The fronts are especially heavy.

There are also a number of VAG (Brembo) 4 piston options that you could take with the S3 rears.

Having gone the S3 front & rear route myself I would say with the benefit of hindsight that the 4 piston kit for the front and S3 rears would be the way to go. I'm not qualified to talk about the 4 piston options since I have no experience or in depth knowledge of them. There are plenty here who do though.  :happy2:

The items in your Ebay link look like they've been painted grey which wasn't an original colour. They also look a bit 'crusty' around the edges. Nothing wrong with refurbished calipers if done properly though.

Is the S3 rear brake and those on a mk2 Cupra r the same?

I can vouch for the ttrs setup, Iv put the kit together over a few months and Iv just had it fitted, I managed to source exerting need for under £700

R32 fronts with project mu brake pads will be fine and fairly cheap

No think the cupra r is 286mm.
easy to tell by looking anyway  :wink:

I was told today the TTRS 345mm discs and calipers wouldn't fit in the 18" wheels and I'd have to go to 19" wheels. Has anyone else managed them inside 18's and how???

They fit inside 18's, even the 370mm kit fits under some 18's...... just

the TTS (340mm) and the TTRS (370mm) fit fine under 18 inch wheels.

My 18Z with 6-pot Brembo calipers and 350 mm discs fit under 18'' wheels. Better find someone else to talk about brakes. :wink:
