The adjustment of the handbrake is a pain to do.  You have to set the cables up so there is a certain clearance between the actuating lever and its stop.

To do this you have to remove the centre console (or lift it at the rear), which is a pain.  Take a look at the workshop manuals in the Tech section.

Would the rear creak when you put weight on the car e.g getting in and out?

Re: Adjust the handbrake? Easy if you have no arm rest!

Decided to add to this old thread, having spent some time searching this site and Google in general for some more info and not having had much luck, and there seems to be quite a bit of confusing info.
I hope this post will help others?

The bit that was really putting me off  the job was the apparent/alleged need to remove all of the centre console, plus left seat...according to some sites! Not a job to be doing a out in the torrential rain that we've had this week!

Why? I have the usual stuck handbrake/rear caliper issue, so decided to splash out and renew both std calipers on rear of my Ed30. Plus the rear calipers are now pretty manky, with corrosion causing loss of paint.
Using the codes on CP4L, managed to get both in red for appx £185.

I have had Stoptech ST 41 BBK on the front for 12 months, so now confident that my set up is adequate for my needs. Task meant coming up against the need to adjust handbrake compensator after renewing the rear calipers.

My Eddy is standard inside with no armrest. With that set up, the compensator adjustment is easioy accessible by taking out the rear section ONLY of the centre console.
To do this, flip out the rubber lining mats in the bottom of the odment tray and the fixed cup holder recess thing. You will find 3 off T20 cap screws. These are all that you need to remove in order to release the handbrake cover and access to adjust.
10 mins to access!
Have never done one with an armrest!
