It's a bit hit and miss. If your clutch slips without the map on then you can ask the question. There have been some probs with the dual mass flywheel and if that's deemed at fault you might get the work done. The official line is they only warrant a clutch up to 6,000 miles.

UPDATE...

Not good news. The flywheel is destroyed and killing the clutch. Apparently all the early gtis had luk clutch and flywheel combos which were sub standard. Getting price on Sachs oem replacement parts which apparently are much stronger!!

Gutted, never fancy a £700 bill, especially not at this time of year

how about looking round scrap yards for low milage written off gti's and getting the stuff off that? will save on price of the product and as you said your only going to have it another 12months....

Right all sorted for £640 all in which im actually very pleased with.

New problem,  It feels as flat as a pancake.  Has my revo map been wiped while the battery has been disconnected???

did midland vw do the clutch ? was that price for am oem or uprated sachs one ?

Yes midland Vw. Both parts are oem, he reckoned oem would be fine for my mods and said I was just unlucky. He said the uprated ones are good for track days but awful on the road and ruin the car. He said they put alot of them on diesels and by 5k you can barely press the pedal down.

Blue, cheers for the answer ref the map, I've done a bit of digging and it does indeed wipe. Amazing what a different car it is without the map - absolutely gutless!!!
