My cylinder 2 coil pack was shot and the others started to fail at temp, which made for an interesting drive to eurocarparts, so I changed all 4 to Bosch and had no issues for the drive to and from work. The next day the misfire was back but only at temp so swapped the plugs around and the misfire moved to cylinder 4. It turned out that my car and the nearly new ngk iridiums did not like each other so I now use ngk pfr7 double platinum and have had no issues for 2k of enjoyable driving

I think I'll get it booked into mechanics to see if I can get a definite answer saves messing about the judder is really getting on my nerves now!

Just a thought incase anyone can confirm - this won't be happening coz of my diverted valve could it? For example if one of the bolts is loose or something? Thanks

Mechanics found a peice of metal inside where the injector was and reckoned this was causing the misfire but no idea where it could have come from?

Told him to replace the injector anyway and well see how it goes. Should be ready tomorrow fingers crossed!

Shoayb don't give up on the old girl - once back from the garage and she drives normal, you'll have forgotten all this.

Fingers crossed it's nothing major and hasn't caused any other damage.

Good luck tomorrow and let us know the outcome.

Let me know next time you're in Notts with your Golf - we'll have a catch up.

@rashg60 thanks for the encouragement mate - just really frustrating when things go wrong. Hopefully it all goes well tomorrow and I get it back running smooth again.

Noticed you went for a new exhaust - what did you end up going for? Is it sounding boy racerish?

Went for the BCS Powervalve one in the end - quiet when you need it to be (i.e. normal driving - city or motorway), plant your right foot down and the valve opens up and makes a wonderful noise. Not boy-racer-ish but sounds just right (burbles and pops). It has the power to go with it, so it doesn't sound daft either.

I am now running at Stage 2 R-Tech remap, pushing 273bhp and 344 lb/ft torque. Most of the power is in the midrange, where it's actually required most.

Like I said, let me know next time you're up in Notts and I'll take you for a (sophisticated) blast.......
