No beeping when leaving headlights on
« on: November 13, 2015, 08:07:28 am »
Hi,

Quite new to the mk5 scene so not sure if this is a fault or just how the car is.

My '05 GTI has no light on the dash to say that the headlights are on which all my other cars have had?

Also if I leave my lights on and exit the car there is no warning to say I've left the lights on?

Thanks in advance for any help

I have a MK5 E30 56 plate with Xenons.

As I exit the car and my lights are on I will get a beep unless I have the switch in the Auto lights position.

As I keep mine in the auto lights position mostly I get no noise and lock the car and then after a set time the lights switch themselves off

Thanks for the replies guys. Do you get a light on the dash to say your headlights are on?

Mine only beeps when the lights are turned to sidelights. I leave the headlights on all the time and they turn off when the car is off.

Do you have a multi function display? If so does it recognise the drivers door is open when lights are on and no key in the ignition? Mine has a faulty door sensor and doesn't always do this, therefore not beeping when it should.

Be careful as if this is the case it may not recognise you opening and closing the car door when you unlock the car, subsequently relocking the car after one minute. Fine if you're inside, but if not and you leave keys in it you are locked out!

Yes it recognises the door is open

Had that issue on my Octavia Vrs and locked my only key inside the car whilst working on it. Wasn't my finest hour haha
