Question about rust warranty.
« on: November 11, 2015, 08:35:17 pm »
Hi there, was looking to remove the inner arch linings this weekend and give them some dineatrol treatment to prevent them from the dreaded rust issue. My question is if I do this would the warranty be void? I know that there's so many variables vw would take in to account before doing it, was just wondering if this would be one?

Cheers

Is there any corrosion there at the moment?  If so, I'd get that seen to and then take preventative measures. If not, fill your boots (don't forget to cut back the foam so that it doesn't rub against the wing).

No no rust at the moment thank god. Yeah I've heard about cutting the foam back. Where does it rub?

If you haven't already, I'd have a read through this thread: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,48873.msg998476.html#new
Also, reply #1042 has a link to the Technical Service Bulletin which is really helpful.

By the way, I'm not sure if it would void your warranty or not, but if you take the correct prentative measures I'd like to think it wouldn't be an issue. Maybe somebody else could clarify this for us?

I hope this helps!
