MK5 GTi Track Car
« on: November 18, 2015, 11:46:57 am »
Hi Guys,

Bought the car standard nearly two years ago and has come a LONG way since then. It's now just my track toy and has a massive spec. Most people will probably recognise it from my instagram (gti_christian), its not often you see a genuine BTCC kitted car....

Anyways, here's its most recent outing at the Nurburgring for the second time this year...

And so the spec:

The car is a 2005 Golf GTi DSG.

Engine: AXX engine code, K04 turbo converted, 3" custom downpipe, 3"decat system made by EMP performance, THS big core intercooler, custom intake with Group A XL filter, S3 injectors, TSI coilpacks, RS4 fuel pressure valve. Mapped by Rtech- 360bhp 374lb-ft torque. Linear map. 5 Map/Boost settings.

Gearbox- DSG with Wavetrac LSD.

Suspension- ST ATX with KW Clubsport Spring rates and KW clubsport adjustable top mounts. Whiteline front and rear ARBs. Whiteline anti lift kit. Polybushed dogbone mount.

Brakes- front- forge/ap 356mm two piece floating discs with forge/ap 6 pot calipers and pagid RS29 pads. Rear- standard set up with pagid rs29 pads and uprated lines.

Interior- Fully stripped, just dash left. Sparco Pro 2000 drivers seat, magnum fibreglass passenger seat. Custom fully welded in rear cage by SA Motorsport. Interior sprayed in Suzuka Grey. Boost gauge steering wheel mounted.

Exterior- bonnet, front bumper, front wings, rear arches, ALL off of the official 2011/12 MK5 Golf BTCC car. Rear wing custom made. Carbon GP wing mirrors.

Wheels- BBS RE1096. 1 of 8 sets ever made for the official BTCC MK5. Made from magnesium. 17x9 all round et15. Wrapped in Nankang NS2R semi slick street compounds.

And some more pictures:

Most famous corner ever?

Donnington Park:

Not to everyone's taste  :P But tbh, look at the car I drive, i'm not really bothered. The car is built for purpose and is an absolute animal on track, various track videos of it on my instagram feel free to watch (Y)
Looking forward to what next year brings for the car on track, now it's built, I just want to use it for what it's meant for.

I dont know what this forum is like anymore but so many people on the internet are like: "OMG massive wing on a FWD car!!?? Pointless!" I'll just leave this here...

Well I love it  :jumpmove:

Did you do anything to the internals on the AXX? Must be close to it's limit?

Do keep this thread updated, subscribed :popcornsoda:

Thanks mate! No standard internals, however on its first dyno run it ran 411lb-Ft and we could hear knock so its been wound back. The engines got more power to give but it wouldn't last long. I'm expecting it to go bang soon though, it smokes quite a bit and it just gets abused everytime its driven lol.

Yeah I'll keep it updated, wont be loads of updates being as its pretty much built already. Might get some polycarb windows all round, and some maintanance stuff like discs and pads. Need an uprated DSG gearbox cooler asap if anyone has any links??

Porn

How many miles have you done on the engine with that power and what mileage was it before? Currently doing a hybrid k03 build on my AXX and trying to get a feel for how long it might last

Delightful!

It's not to my taste for a road car, but for a purpose-built track car, it's completely to my taste!

What's your daily driver then?
