Edition 30 remap - Portsmouth
« on: November 19, 2015, 04:29:29 pm »
I'm looking for at Stage 1 remap options and possibly an air intake on my Edition 30 - I may look at a new exhaust in the future but don't have the cash for that as well now. The car is completely standard at the moment and I'm based in Portsmouth.

Reading back through all the posts on other remaps it seems that R-Tech come out as everyone's favourite although it's a long way (300 mile round trip) for me from the coast especially if I have to return at a later point for any issues. JKM are a few miles from and they do Revo maps although they are quite a bit more expensive than R-Tech. I've also read a bit about APR...

Does anyone down south have any recommendations of where they've been and what map they got?

just bite the bullet and drive to R-tech

when you say ever have any problems it will be easier to sort at a local place

you will not get any problems with the map it will always be something else that any compitant mechanic can sort

you will only know its mapped by driving it

revo are good maps but they dont make R-tech power and what about if you disconect your battery and it wipes the map you will need to buy an sps switch or return to the revo dealer

I'm just down the coast from you at Arundel and would recommend traveling up to  'R-Tech'. I know it's a bit of a drive but you won't be disappointed with the results.
I went earlier this month with my GTI  , 283 bhp and 355ftlbs the result. The level of professionalism and knowledge Nikki and the guys showed up there and the recommendations from the forum made my decision to travel a bit farther fully justified.

I feel sorry for you boys when you've gotta travel from so far. Life's great when you only live 5-10 mins from R tech lol :P

JKM. 1st class service and close by for support. Jim is particularly talented, but it must be said that all of their staff are exceptional. I'm sure R Tech mean as much to others but I couldn't entertain the journey I've had in getting my car to where it is today without their input. Jim is an acknowledged and accomplished track driver whose advice is worth listening to. I certainly couldn't have worked the way I have with them with a specialist who is so far away. Just not close enough to be practical.

Gone but not forgotten :-)

Thanks for all the replies guys. I've been away for a week and a bit but got back today and left a voicemail for R-Tech today so will wait to hear back from them and when they could fit me in. I might be able to tie in a trip up there with seeing some family which would make the mileage less painful. Haven't completely ruled out Revo at JKM but it is a lot more expensive.

Wait for a voucher offer, they're very frequent. Weigh in the saving in fuel for your journey as well and I bet it's not too much more, if any.

Ah I did see an offer on ages ago for £100 off Revo or something, thought it was a one time only thing. If they have one in the next few weeks that could convince me to go to JKM. Can't wait too long to get it mapped though :)

Damn... Just called and you had to register by Monday just gone to get a code for the Black Friday deal. I asked if they had anything coming up for Christmas or end of year sales and they said not that they know of but the Black Friday deal was only announced the day before.

Not sure how much a Stage 1 map is but I paid £600 for my Stage 2 map and DSG map, and that was discounted.
Stage 1 Rtech map is like 300?
It's no more than 60 quid in fuel....3 hours tops.
