Given the faff of wrapping that, or touching it up, or getting a bodyshop to quote to paint it - I reckon you may be best going to VW to find out the cost of a new one.

I only comment on this as there was the infamous 'triangle' on the mkiv rear door that used to bubble up. Really cheap to replace, but involved a little bit of work to replace. I found it easy to do with the right tools and a bit of time...

I've got exactly the same problem with my Eddie!
Managed to put off the repair all year but seriously, how hard can it be remove the door skin and then the quarter light assembly......
Certainly will be a faff but a great sense of achievement I'm sure.
I'll report back when I attempt it in 2016!

Its held in with 3-4 bolts

To remove need to remove door skin

Not as hard as it seems i replaced the triangle window last year
