New owner, Engine light, less boost at low revs. Please help :(
« on: November 25, 2015, 12:50:43 am »
Morning all, My engine light lit up last month not long after buying the car and has been on since, it didn't seem to affect anything from what i could see, car still booted well, decided to disconnect battery for half hour and reset ecu, light went out, car sounds smoother to rev, especially that first bit of the throttle around 800-1000rpm, and felt quicker, turbo sounded punchier too, so it behaves normal for 30 miles, then the light illuminates again and back to what i thought was (normal) So i reset it again, this time it lasted for 22 miles before the light came on, I don't want to have to spend silly money on a vagcom for it, I am contemplating going the old S3 route with the 4wd to be honest, but would like to try and fix this little issue im having.

Any suggestions? I have checked, cleaned and gapped the plugs, the coils are clean with no contamination or cracking, no boost leaks either.

Thanks in advance guys. Pilla.

Yes, that seems the only solution, pity these models cant work with the old vagcom.
