The TFSI engine Diverter Valve is designed to recirculate the 'dumped' air back into the intake. If you fit the spacer then this recirculation doesnt happen.

Similar to the DV on Audi tt then.

Thanks rich, I think I'll leave it off then.
It's a shame no one mentions this when selling.

Referring to this?.

Ive been running one for the last 6 months, as far as i can judge it does nothing to improve performance ( which I already knew) and adds nothing negative or decreases performance.
It just makes a silly noise which is what I wanted as a throwback to my youth and my Renault 5 Turbo.
Not quite as loud as i would of liked but maybe a remap will increase that a bit.

If you want the noise fit it, if you don't like it take it back off, no harm done and easily reversible.

Thanks guys

I know it doesn't do anything for the performance just like fitting a bov to the mk1 TT. Some say don't fit a BOV but why lol I had one on for 6months and got so fed up of the pshhht pshhht sound as it was way too loud and finally took it off
This never once gave me any drivability issues but again mixed reviews and laughed at when mentioend on the tt forum.
It's a noise thing like marmite lol you either like it or don't  :happy2:

Thanks

M
