RNS315 (US) iPhone 6 plus options

Been a while since i've been here though now i'm back in a GTI....well Saturday anyway.

Bought a 2012 GTi with RNS315 (in the US) and it has the MDI port in the centre console. Can i get the MDI- Female USB cable and connect a lightning cable in to connect my iphone?

Or do i have to get MDI to Lightning - rather not due to short length.
