Removing starter motor on a dsg?

Tried to find this on the how to section with no luck.......

A mate is going to do an oil & filter change next week and as he has use of a ramp I want to have a gander underneath and have a general check over.
As there is a squeak/screech every time you start the engine, following advice on here I want to try and grease the shaft on the starter motor for a start to see if that sorts it out.
Is it an easy enough job or anything to look out for?

Wouldn't have a clue to be honest as no good with mechanics it was suggested here that the the noise could be a dried out starter motor shaft. It makes the noise every time you start the engine.
I'll ask mate to check pulley/belts as well, just wondered if taking the starter motor off is straight forward or not?

I've heard a weird noise coming from many vw polo's and always comment on it being the started motor but cannot explain the noise  it's such a weird noise and cannot be explained and I'm guessing it's that you maybe referring to if mechanics have looked at or have heard the noise.

The 'traditional' VW starter motor signs are in that video. When you try starting it up, you'll hear a loud whine or whistle for a second or so and then it'll be back to normal. One of lecturers at engineering once suggested to try spraying some WD40 on it....never tried it though!

Mine has a quick (small) sequel on every start-up.

Changed the aux belt and still there soe guess I'll just live with it.  Garage seemed to think they all did it.

As said before its the start motor. Have a read... I've had this problem before on a MK5 GTI DSG. And I know what I did to sort it. Taking the starter motor off takes 10 Minutes as that's how long it took my brother who is abit handy with tools.

Just had a look at the starter motor in my dsg and it's easy access and situated at the front of the engine so you can't go wrong.

Its just two bolts, a nut, and a plug.  Remove the negative from the battery first.

VW do a specific spray lube for the DSG starter motors which generally fixes the issue.  Got some here somewhere.

Thanks for the advice guys, Alex any chance you can find out what that specific lube is please thanks?
I can pop by TPS tomorrow if it's something they would sell.
