« on: December 31, 2009, 12:58:13 pm »

since i own a mk2 leon i have no real good option to install gauges in the car.

now , i am really interested to know , in a nice looking way (not honda. ... 2000 gagues with pod columns on c pillar) what are my EGT's AIR/FUEL , boost and intake temps.

i have came along this product :

i have no clue if it can display all those parameters,

Apart from the Vi Monitor there are 2 others.

The Liquid golf is already available for the diesels, but not yet quite finished for the TFSI engines. It will (so I'm told) have more information and diagnostics available than other systems once it is fully OBD compatible.

Then there is the Dashdaq. Very snazzy looking and you can make up your own custom skins. Not fully Vagcom compatible yet either, but a decent option.

all 3 options are OBD data only.

so i do not get full EGT / BOOST / WIDEBAND info , which are the most important parameters i need.

i got a link (but lost it , will get it tommorow again) for a jap company who makes a digital gague , normal 56 or 60 mm (you can have several) which display full obdii data as well as connect to a wide range of their offered sensors.

you can have up to 4 lines per gague.

:)

right ,
i was reffering to PLX Devices

much cheaper and better option than the others i think

you can buy a multigague :
http://www.plxdevices.com/multigauges.html
which is basically an LCD gague with up to 4 parameters.

or you can buy WIFI KIWI with iphone interface :
http://www.plxkiwi.com/kiwiwifi/hardware.html

those two display OBDII , but the great thing is that you can add modules to that for extra info :
http://www.plxdevices.com/sensormodules.html

looks really nice.
i can get just 1 gague and dash mount it with the entire info i need.

anyone tried those ?

^^^ The PLX stuff looks good but when I last checked a few months ago it had very very limited support for the Mk5 Golf / Mk2 Leon.

While it's OBD-II compliant so can get some very basic info most of the useful info isn't available via the older K-line protocol as our cars mainly use the CAN BUS protocol now.

As I said earlier, the liquid one for the TFSi is still in development. I have been in contact with "freegeek" and he says that the can-bus should be cracked for use in the next month or so :happy2:

Also my understanding is that the Dashdaq II system is looking down this road too. :happy2:

Here's Freegeek's PM to me in late November.

"We got the CAN version working for the first time last weekend, giving full access to all the vag-com blocks, poroduction will still take a couple more months though.

The difference between our system and others is that we use the proprietary VAG protocol which gives boost an other usefull info, while the others use the standard OBD2 protocol which does not show very much at all."
