Replacing canbus, is it really possible! !
« on: December 03, 2015, 11:43:26 am »
So... I'm about to fot a RNS510 and located my canbus as being behind the relay carrier and driver cubby hole. Before I rip myself to pieces have many people successfully changed through this opening? I see there's a way of doing it behind the wiper but don't really want to start dismantling the car that much! Who's successfully managed it the inside way to reassure me before I shred my hands to the bone?

It's very easy via the cubby hole to be honest. I can fit 2 hands in there (obviously not with much movement haha)!

Mine is in the same place as yours! It is possible to replace through the cubby I found when I unclipped the fuse/relay panel inside there it became a bit easier to see what you were doing . you need to unplug the old gateway first then remove the unit from its mounting then reinstall in the opposite order

Isn't it easier to look up the clutch pedal disconnect from there? Thats the way ive always done it.  First time ever took me an hour,  2nd time onwards its taken a few minutes

From looking up at the clutch pedal you can't see as it's over the other side. It's an 07 model if that changes things. Will have to suck it up and rip my hands to bits! Thanks guys

its a simple job.

behind the relay is much easier than above the foot pedals.

Managed it... Ripped my hand to bits but it's sorted and works. Hardest part was getting the bloody thing back into the right position when changed.
