Put new battery in, dash lights won't go out.

I replaced my battery in my 2005 Golf GTI MKV because the car needed jump started every time I turned the engine off. With the old battery, if it ran out of power and the car didn't start I would get the following dash lights: Power steering light, type pressure ligh and ESP light. The steering while these lights were off is very heavy but with the old battery they usually went off within about 50 miles, on one occasion it took 200 miles of constant driving for it to go off. Now the problem is, when I changed to the new battery those lights were all still on which I expected because a new battery would need a bit of a run in I guess but after 300 miles with the new battery in they're still not going off, steering still heavy, no esp. I've tried going on a straight road and going full lock to full lock but to no avail. I'm wondering if I just need to go for a constant long drive or something for them to go out? I'm out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Turn car on, turn steering wheel full lock to the left and hold for 10 seconds and then full lock all the way to the right and hold it for 10 seconds and then straighten the steering wheel.  It should go out

Take the negative off and try again?.
You only need to drive a couple of yards and they should go out tbh

Just tried that and went out for a 50 mile drive. Still got all the dash lights on. Power steering, ESP and type pressure.

You may need to perform basic settings using vcds and then go for a drive

As mentioned, get a diagnostic kit onto it, clear any fault codes and hopefully it'll all go away. It may be because the various control modules have logged some serious fault codes (because of the dying battery) and they won't go away until manually removed.

Just an update. Was out driving this afternoon, going round a roundabout and as I was turning the steering wheel hard to exit the roundabout, all the lights on the dash went off and had power steering back, almost went into a wall because I was turning so hard because of having no power steering. Forgot how amazing the steering feels when it actually works! Chuffed to bits. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Haha, I've been there too, driving it without PAS, it's an effort for sure...  The full lock left and right and drive usually works though unless there's another problem stopping the system from re calibrating (mine recently was a duff rear sensor)
