Golf front drop link(tie bars) and lowered suspension
« on: January 01, 2010, 11:32:32 am »
Hi all every one who has quite low suspension,  do you have uprated Tie bars on the front???  I have the FK highsport silverlines and they come with the shorter tie bars but one of them has been damaged through wear and tear.

A new set cost £70 which im not prepared to pay so bought some standard Golf ones will they be okay?

Do you think I should get a set of these before we install the normal sliver line ones? To save problems or will the FKs do for a period of time? How long have you had yours on Darren?

....

The oem VW droplinks might look spindly but they're strong enough for the VW Racing competition cars. When I asked VWR advice about changing mine from stock they said I'd be wasting my money but were willing to fit some for me.

Mine have been on for 78k miles. I have VWR-KW-V3 coilovers and Eibach ARB's etc.

Jake thanks for that link I will be getting some of them in the near future,  but Ive got some standard one to go on till the summer.

Ollie the drivers side is fine but the passenger one lasted about 2 months, possible incorrect fitting or sub standard boot im not sure but the rubber boot just disintegrated

RR thanks for that ill be putting some standard VW Golf ones back on now until I get some that jake gave the link for,

2 months!!!  :surprised: :scared:
I really have no clue what they are or even  what they do but surely they are supposed to last longer than that! Did venom not replace them?
What would you recommend to do? Fit them and see what happens?
Also can you adjust the camber on these? I dont think you can can you. I read somewhere that it may need adjusting when you go lower?
Cheers  :happy2:

No adjustment on them although you can get adjustable top mounts so you can do small adjustments then you will be into the TT wishbones and TT adjustable lower ball joints :popcornsoda:

Ive been so low I carnt get out of the garden but only had the FK tie rods on...they connect to the anti roll bar and strut to stop flex of the both components.

Venom wouldn't change them due to it not been there fault,  which im not blaming Venom they are a fantastic company.

So you dont get any type of warranty for them. So there is no need to alter camber? I want to get to around this height:

Its about the same as yours? The owner says he has no problems with rubbing and my wheel and tire specs should be fine!
That will be ok with nothing else except the coils? Im probably asking stupid questions but I wanted to make sure  :stupid: :happy2:

This is how low I was when at the VW Festival and that was has low has I could get with out scraping the subframe

Has long as you have the right tire 215/35 there will be no scrubbing at all,  the rear will tuck nicely and the front will be just right.
