Well, like I said, it doesn't fit correctly but to me it's close enough not to get worried about it!

Colour match shows up badly in these pictures but isn't so bad in actual daylight.

The only issue I can really spot is the tips at the end of each side (closest to the wheel) where they stick out.

Let me know what you think (good or bad! - I won't take any offence...  :signLOL: )

If I can be honest

First impression were  :surprised: it's poking out and not flushed like oem. edges don't look right at all like they've been cut with a blade with no shape to them. or is that because they don't have a covered flat piece on them? looks like somethings misisng for sure. Lighter coloured cars will show up worse than black I guess.

Sorry don't want to upset you in anyway.   :ashamed:

I recently fitted a dodgey ebay special replica of the ED30 front lip, I paid 60 for an ABS plastic one, took a gamble but for 100 in total once I had bought all the painting equipment I don't feel I did bad however, it was a PAIN in the rear end to fit the thing, I had to alter each and every "clip" if you can call them that, they are more like tabs then clips and didn't hold particularly well to the genuine VW top bumper, the holes for the under tray and arch liners were off, and in general I would say poorly constructed...

I would  recommend you buy a genuine VW part, they are absolutely faultless as I found out when I was fitting my genuine ED30 rear valance, and was honestly about half an hours work, in comparison to the 3 hours I spent fitting the splitter and genuinely all the time was lost (Not including painting obviously) was getting to the fit as it should... I'm happy with how it looks for now but It speaks volumes when I say i've kept my genuine GT front spoiler in the garage just in case... as for the clips at each end, I fashioned a bracket between the two bumpers to get the clips to hold in, using M6 bolts with large square washers to clamp it tight.

Bluebert92, I thank you for your response to this thread as you've proven how poorly these copies are made and the amount of labour hours going into fitting the crap. :happy2: :happy2:

Gone right off replicas now

Thanks

Good pictures Stu 88 really helpful, is this a similar copy product to what we are talking about?

Fish good description and also helpful top man thanks

This seems to be a case of you get what you pay for, I'm planning to get someone good to fit and paint

He has quoted  250 cash all in, and I know he is good at what he does, all he has said to me is get one from Germany as they are the best fit

I'm not looking for a perfect job with a copy mine is not a show car

Nice one Blue, I think you hit the nail on the head there with your description great helpful write up and pic's

Thank you all  :happy2:

Prices were £550 ono at the time and I paid £500 with the complete mesh grills.

If I can be honest

Honesty aides discussion, so no I'm not upset with something I didn't make heh.

As far as I know there was no reshaping of any sort done, so it's as you see it really.

What is the "missing covering plate"? The splitter came as one molded piece of plastic, no separates!

Unfortunately it was more work than it was worth but a beastly look to it.

I had the front bumper on but that was it as the mesh grills wouldn't fit on with the Fmic

Look closely and you'll see the bumper badly out of shape and not fitting on the edge below the arches.

I'm thinking all lower lips have an edge that wraps around or looks like it's meant to be there.
My Votex audi tt one was lovely   :rolleye:

Ahh I gotcha.

I'll take a look and a better picture of that area in the morning light to see what has gone on. Maybe some cutting what done, but I get all bodywork some free by my uncle so I couldn't really complain.

Genuine ed30 rear valance is a perfect fit and if I see a reasonably priced genuine front splitter I'll be getting it.

Not displeased with the replica, but would go genuine if it made sense money wise.

More of a "I scratch your back with computer stuff for his shop" and I get reduced rates on labour.

£500 for timing belt and fitted, water pump and tensioners, splitter and ed30 bumper fitted, upper bumper repaired from a slight bollard bump, OEM mk6 parking sensors fitted while there, side skirts smoothed and all painted.

Paid £80 for splitter, £125 for ed30 rear, £80 for sensors.

All I do is help his invoice system tick along nicely... but I guess what I don't know, he knows and vice versa, right?

Oh well at least you get a reduced rate where as if my uncle said pay me I'd say f off as your my uncle and it works
Some.peolle are luckier as their uncle's don't charge but I guess it depends on the uncle. lol
I fitted brother porsche 911 brakes on and I don't ask for anything and he chucks £100 and says don't worry about it as I would have paid more if I were to use a porsche specialist and I know you'll do the job properly  :signLOL:

If I need money he'll borrow me it but not happily  :sad1:

I repaired his old mitsubishi front end for him and got £800 for parts labour and got a friend to paint the whole front end and a blow into the door and left hand wing for £250 silver paint.
Wing front bumper, bumper support head light fog light and corner panel sourced for £180  glad I knew a few people in the jap car parts trade.
