P0299 fault code car in limp mode
« on: December 11, 2015, 11:40:23 am »
Hi Guys

I my MKV pretty much standard except for a DP has started giving me issues, after drivng the car for about 30min it seems to go into limp mode wont rev over 3000rpm and will jerk non stop when trying to accelerate. if I switch off and park the car for about 30 min to an hour it will start and drive normally for another 10 to 15min then start jerking again. Iv taken the car in and the only code ts pulling is p0299 low boost limit not reached. Any idea what the problem might be here as the mach is also not sure he says we need to change the MAF sensor. Why is it that car drives well when cold but when warmed up it gets into limp mode and starts jerking.
Take it easy.. and if its easy.. Take it home!! :driver:

You need a vcds to check the maf readings firstly in order to Ryle that out.

Check your pcv valve as this is a common failure point and I remember this issue when I went to look at golf gti's before buying.

Thanks, I have changed the pcv valve about 3 months back. Do you think it could maybe be a faulty DV?  :sad1:

It it were your dv then you'd here a hissing/flutter on boost?

More likely the N75 Boost pressure sensor but needs checking?. someone tell please tell me otherwise?.

as r5gtt said and i would also check all boost pipes for cracks or leakes, and would be a good idea to change dv if you have not done so to the latest revision

There is definitely a slight hissing/whistle coming from the turbo/engine when I accelerate, thanks will get the DV changed/replaced and pipes checked for leaks. Actually come to think of it when I replaced the pcv a few months back the mach did tell me I need to change the DV he said there was a whistle from my turbo I couldn't hear it then but it is definitely audible now.

Hopefully you'll have it sorted with minimal stress as I hate when things start to go wrong.  :sad1:

Let us know what you find on the dv  :happy2:

o I got the mach to check the DV and indeed the old one was totally wasted the whole bottom rubber was torn into at least 6 pieces  so we replaced it and im having great boost however a day later my car has started having petrol cuts again and jerking :sad1: I got the mach to check the codes again this time the p0299 is gone its been replaced by a P310C - Low Pressure Fuel Regulation: Fuel Pressure Drops Intermittently  :sad1:  now I don't know,I changed the fuel filter two weeks back when the jerking started it was super dirty with black petrol coming out, so im sure its not the fuel filter... any suggestions .. im ready to dump this car now :sad1:

This will be your next port of call  :happy2: happens to many gti owners. need to pull out the fuel pump and take the tappet out as it's possibly worn.

Hope it sorts the issue out.

Thanks so I have got the cam follower replaced since mine was definitely worn out.. Drove the car around and after a few minutes of flooring it the petrol cuts started again  :sad1: ..... I did not try to get the previous code cancelled after replacing the cam follower could this be the cause or what do you suggest I do next.

just another point... once the petrol cuts start.. when the car is in neutral or park it wont rev over 3500rpm (Don't know if this means its going into limp mode and why)
