Car Tax and MOT Question...
« on: January 18, 2010, 01:09:58 pm »
Hey guys,

Right, my car requires taxing at the end of the month (Jan), and my car isnt due for an MOT till March...

Question is, will my car be ok to get Taxed without an MOT this month?! If so, when do I actually need to MOT the car?! Before the next Tax renewal? Or just to it in March?!!

Thanks,
Tom

Yeah I know that, what I'm saying is my car isnt due for an MOT till 03/10, meaning I should be able to tax my car with no problems around 01/10, right?!

So lets say I get 12months tax, which means the next time I need to tax the car is 01/11, I will need a valid MOT, so do I do my MOT 03/10, or 01/11?!

Thanks,
Tom

You can apply for tax after the 15th of the month, I would get on it now and get your car booked in for MOT sharpish too just incase of any warranty issues that would need resolving before it expires! :happy2:

Your cars will need MOT after three years on the anniversary of 1st registration.
So you can legally apply for road tax prior to that date without any problems.
As someone has said you can apply from the 15th of the month onwards.

The DVLA computer just checks IF it's mot'd not HOW LONG it's mot'd.

Renew tax disc online. It's easy peasy, plus you don't have to stand in a queue of pensioners who wait until my lunchtime to go to the f00kin post office...  :stupid:

+1 for online. Saves you having to faff about when you're about to go
on a weekend trip somewhere and a mate points out that thr tax disc has expired!
