Mine used to use loads and now I've changed from 5w30 to 5w40 and it doesn't use anywhere near as much. Try a thicker oil if your currently using 5w30 .

And double check pcv

pcv should only work one way has a check valve in it, if you change it make sure you get the revision R, and not the rev p the dealer gave me or you wil have to change the rear pcv valve with the pipe with the check valve in,

I'm going to replace it, is it possible that the PCV valve is causing that much oil consumption?

Replace the PCV if there is some air coming through it but I doubt that will be the sole reason for your oil consumption.

If your not getting any blue smoke then id deffo change to a decent 5w40 like millers nano and see what its like then... like I say mine used a lot (not quite as much as yours) and now its miles better!

I bought a 2007 GTI in April 2015. Did approximately 5000 miles and the oil check light came on topped it up with half a litre as it was dark and forgot all about it. around 1200 miles later the check oil light has came back on today so I have put in 1.5 litres , The dip stick is now on the max marker . I have squared the mileometer to 0 to see exactly what consumption I am getting but I believe this sort of consumption to be normal .?
