Nope I don't have this problem. Although, the previous owner clearly did.

Dip the mirror when reversing and stay a few inches away from the kerb. It's not a competition to get as close to it as possible. It's a Golf, so it's unlikely to be hanging wide on the road.

Bad parker, although if you're used to something with a thicker tyre I can't blame you!

Mine were all in perfect condition about a month ago. I was out with a friend and I was reversing around a tight corner and doing a great job. I even commented "In fairness, I'm a great driver right?". Two seconds later I took a chunk out of my alloy.... I well and truly deserved it  :signLOL:

You are not alone my friend. I had my 18" Monza's diamond cut refurbed in July this year and since that time my wife has managed to curb all 4 of them. The first one was done within 24 hours which was a nice suprise  But like you, she is also a crap driver. (only kidding mate)  :happy2:

I'm as careful as I can be with kerbs.

Two things in my favour are auto dipping nearside mirror and the fact that Supersports have rim protectors!

I got my GTI with almost immaculate BBS CH's.  It seemed like the car had never seen a city let alone a curb or a school car park.

After about 2/3 mpnths of ownership i have managed to put a few marks on them.

It was inevitable as i work in a big city in schools and have to park in some tight spaces and quite often on busy roads.

I am careful when i can be, but tbh, there is a limit to how careful you can be.

Always been careful since I refurbed my monzas then was late for watching a man united game one day and in a rush kerbed my wheels (didn't help that they lost that game but atleast moyes was sacked after that!)

Changed wheels to pescaras after that and have been as careful as anything since (no kerbs so far!)

Stuart! You surprise me!  :sad1:

Needless to say, I have never kerbed any of my wheels, in 7 years of ownership...  :P

I royally kerbed my Summer Monzas a few weeks ago, just the off side rear but I did a proper job on it... it was at that point I put the Summers to bed for the winter.
