well, all done, software upgrade done, as already has been said map needed to be reinstalled and RNS needed reprogramming via VCDS, also Mp3'S lost and secret menu needed re-enabling , and the result is the unit is updated and is starting in Germany again , so it didnt fix it for me, i have now removed the gps form its current location and sat it on the dash to see if that helps a bit, will report back later

Gents,

as a lowly MFD2 user, could someone confirm a couple of points please ?

As old as the MFD2 is, one of the things I really like is the blue backlights with red buttons. I can see that the RNS has Red buttons, but does it integrate with the blue colour elsewhere on the dash ?

Secondly, my MFD2 has a Parrot CK3000 Evolution connected via can harness to the sterring wheel buttons and works great. If I went for the RNS, I obviously couldn't afford to get the £300 bluetooth kit fitted for some time, so would the parrot still work straight out of the box so to speak ?

Lastly, according to a VCDS scan my 2005 car is fitted with a 1K0 907 530 E revision Can Gateway. If I got as mentioned a FW1100 (or Darren's special 1200) would that definately not have the battery drain issues as again, at the moment I can't afford another £150-£200 on upgrading the Can gateway over and above the cost of the RNS.

Finally, Darren, how are people paying you, cash or paypal (if it's not too impertinent  to ask) ?

Sorry for all the questions gents.

To answer your Questions

1. Not quite sure what you are getting at but the button colours are either Red for VW or Green if it's a Skoda Unit. The remainder of the unit has it's own colour as it is a full colour touch screen so there is no back light to it.

2. The Parrot will work with the MFD3 (i Have an MKi9000 connected to mine via a harness)

3. Any firmware apart from 266X will work without the Battery Drain issue. The new 268X firmware fixes this anyway.

Bank Transfer Andrew its less hassle,

Ive got the 2680 on disc here if any one wants it FOC but it is available on the net to download so is most of the other firmware and if you look hard enough most of the mapping discs are too.

Every thing is working on mine now Until V7 comes out that is

After a lot of reading it appears that the Skoda bluetooth  and the new firmware doesn't like all phones but there doesn't appear to be a definitive list

I was going to upgrade mine today with a 1100 disk as backup if it all went wrong, but after discovering the ice on the windscreen was actually on the inside  :surprised: decided I wasn't going to sit in a freezing car while watching the upgrade and ran back into the warm. Will have an attempt when it gets a bit warmer

Just updated mine succesfully from 800 firmware to the new 268x with no issues!.

Although had a heart stopping moment dueing the lata stages in the Gateway data transfer when the unit when black screen/ all drive moment stopped and i was sat there saying polite language thinking id Bricked it................but after 90 seconds of silence in just restarted much to my relief!!!.

Does anyone know how to change from kph to mph on the road speed icon?
