Its actually easy to un-brick the units but you just carn't upgrade the units any more and they will stay on he f/w that was previously on it i.e if you was on 1100 and was trying to put 2660 on you would have to go back to 1100 and stay on that.

It is detailed on VWNavi how to do it,

The only thing stopping me from upgrading mine is that its HW03 and uncertainty if the Skoda bluetooth will continue to function

That process only works if your EEPROM isn't soldered.

But still useful info for anyone who may brick it (if used a cd or dvd burned too quickly etc)  :happy2:

This is my unit that Ive had for poss 3-4 months now after having to give my A-version to a customer.

Notice the Ho2 h/w but works with all SDHC cards,

Im using Pimp my Nav software to do the mapping discs now so it gives me this extended disc number

That's interesting Darren.

Is yours a reconditioned unit or is it just one you got from Ebay?

As far as i was aware only HW - H04 & above supported SDHC.

Hmmm might be interesting to see if anyone else has less than HW - H04 and see if they get SDHC support aswell

Carl :happy2:

Darren,

Was the unit refurbed at all or was it a straight out of his in yours swap?

I'm just wondering why a H02 version is able to read SDHC as to the best of my knowledge VAG only put SDHC readers in H04 onwards and they were just disabled in the earlier firmwares.

Unless you were just lucky and that was put in by mistake. Either that or a lot of people with H03 or lower have been unlucky  :signLOL:

What car did it come from?

Carl :happy2:
