Rear Badge being lazy??
Phil Mcavity:
Anyone elses boot VW badge either wont spring back or incredibily slow retracting. Feels like the Mechanism in side needs oiling??.ive tried WD40 but doesnt seem to help,. It feels like rubber bushes may have swallen on stop the boot badge from rotating freely??.
The guys that are putting CF ones on, did you have to take it all to bits to replace badge or can anyone tell me how to or the best way to??
cheers peeps
billyboy:
mines the same phil, when it went for service i asked them to check it out they told me it was standard as it is of damped design
i said 80ll0ck5, so they WD40d it, it was fine for a little while but its slower then ever, and only retuns flush when the boot is slammed shut, thats how slow its gone.
i keep telling myself to strip the thing apart but just not the time at mo, so its WD40 time me thinks, then i leave a bit of tissue in it to soak left overs up.
Phil Mcavity:
i dont know how the badge is held in , whether it works on a rod, nylon bushes or "o"ring setup??? i drowned mine in Wd40 but doesnt seem to have done nothing. The spring tension is still there but wont return itself down when you close the bootlid. Odd??
WhiteGTI:
Mine springs back 'violently' !!!!
Hope you get it sorted Steve.
Phil Mcavity:
i dont wanna go back to my local dealer after my recent rift over my damaged car, i might ask jim or keith at jkm to have a butchers tuesday.
