Approaching 100k Miles sevice
« on: December 17, 2015, 06:20:52 pm »
Evening all. My edition 30 is in for a service in January and is on 97k at the minute. Now I thought I'd get people's opinions on if it is worth doing the oil pick up pipe as it's approaching 100k, the car has full service history and the Cam belt and water pump where changed at 88k so that one thing less to do. My plans for the car next year will be to go stage 2 so want to make sure everything is ready. It has recently had new pcv, dv, Cam follower fitted aswell.

Cheers Jay

Evening. I had mine done at 80k with DV, PCV, follower & a service all as a matter of precaution. My Indy specialist said the pick up pipe was fine but I'm happy with the peace of mind it gives. Worth doing I'd say.

Cheers for the response mate. I think it's abit like the Cam follower more of a peace of mind sort of thing, when I changed that there was no wear on it

Is it an expensive thing to fix/check?

Its about an hour and a half labour plus £30odd part.

I did a big service when I bought the car at 87k, I would also look at plugs/ bleed brakes/ fuel filter and a really good inspection service similar to the 150 point check type of thing the AA etc.. do. Just to make sure bushes, joints, bearing etc.. Are all in good order.

Thanks mate.

I had the plugs, fuel filter, cam follower, pcv and dv changed by VW when I bought the car a month or so ago. Brakes were bled 12 months ago according to a receipt I have! Trying to cover all the suspect usual perishables where possible and cost dependant!!

Sounds like you've got most of it covered then. Its also worth changing the gearbox oil if its a manual and obviously service every 40k if DSG
