Removing seats

I was planning on removing my heated leather seats tomorrow to clean the car interior thoroughly, if its not too much of a job

Ive read theres four m10 triple square bolts in each front seat, and eletrical connections.

Ive also read the battery needs disconecting. How do I go about disconnecting the battery? Will disconnecting the bartery lead to any problems?

In all my years of removing car seats with heaters or electrics I've never disconnected thr batter but for you safety I'd take the negative terminal off only.
If you have a coded radio then make sure you have the code but again I found this unnecessary as the genuine stereo usually works with battery off even for 4 hours plus.
Take a note of your mileage trip if your keeping count of the miles.

I dont know if I have a coded radio, its the mfd2. If it is coded how do I take the code?

What do you mean by keep track of mileage? Surely it wont change if I disconnect the battery?

How should I disconnect the battery, undo the nuts for positive and negative and then put them to one side but.not touching any metal. Would it be a good idea for safety to wrap the ends in insulating tape? Can I touch the wire in order to wrap it?

It's really easy mate, just whip the -ve off, take the seats out job done. Just be careful when moving seats not to scratch anything as they're heavier than they look

I don't know what stereo that is but mine didn't need recoding.

I meant the trip computer part not mileage as that will never change.

Just undo the 10mm nut on negative side and pry the terminal off and MAKE SURE NOT TO TOUCH IT as you'll melt your hands  ONLY KIDDING    just take it off and move it out the way till you've refitted the seats back and connected all wiring. The you can refit the negative terminal and all done. Dont forget to reset the time.

The world will end and that's that 

You may disconnect both if you would prefer to but to save you the trouble and just do the - minus is all you need to do. 

Always wear protective gloves as acid from a battery will cause irritation and burns so don't touch your face etc.

Whip those seats out and hoover up those runners points peskyjones

Put a blanket over the door cill just incase.

I was being serious I did this when i took mine out. The seats are heavy one slip and you damage the door cill.

I think peskyjones is either pulling our legs acting  or he's not reading the replies as the blanket will keep you from damaging the sill.

The earth removed will prevent any electrical contact and protect the vehicles electrics if you happen to chop into thr wiring.
Remember to plug everything back in before you post a how to repair your heated seats  with air bag lights on
