Daily runner?
« on: January 02, 2010, 11:42:59 am »
Just wondering how many of you guys are like me and use you GTI as a daily car??

I use mine to get to work and back every day, and then to go out on weekends, since its my only car. So approx 300 miles a week. Its costing me about £50 a week, but less hassle then taking public transport, which would double my time getting to and from work!

How many of you guys use your car as a daily runner like me, or do you only bring it out on days where it wont rain etc?! lol

Mines a daily runner too. I will be getting a company vehicle when I complete my apprenticeship. Just in time to upgrade my car to a GTI or maybe Ed30. Then I will be able to keep that for weekends which I am looking forward to! I dont like to drive mine to work now and park on public car parks! My car is only a 1.6 FSI as well!  :signLOL: :ashamed: :happy2:

Daily driver here too, I bought the GTI to enjoy it.. not to lock it up.  Only a 10 mile commute at the moment but I might be moving house soon which will mean ~100 miles per day, will have to see what the petrol costs are like if we go ahead with he move.

Not quite a daily driver, but I do use it regularly. When I get the option I let the wife's car take the miles.

....

Sort of daily driver except that I don't work so the car might do 40 miles one week and 640 the next. Regularly irregular.

I actually feel withdrawal symptoms if I don't drive her for a few days and start looking for excuses. In 78k miles in 4.5 years I have never ever felt tired of driving her. Best car I've ever owned.

Got mine out of the garage last night for the first time in nearly four weeks. Mother Nature showed her displeasure at this act by making it snow on it (first snow we've had in Devon) then added a bit of frost to the snow, so the inside of the windscreen freeze up too. I only used the darn thing because the locks were frozen on my 12 year old daily driver, in retrospect I'd have been better off sorting the locks out on the old Ibiza as it de-frosts better than the 12 years newer Golf GTI! Feckin' screen blower on the Golf is useless at -4 deg.

I use my K1 every day during the winter. In summer i,m generally on 2 wheels, either my sportsbikes or pedalling to work 20 miles a day.
