The crash bar is there it's the bit above it which also goes under headlights

That bit is part of the front panel and you should have a bracket under each headlight

That's the lock and carrier @TAPPY looks like the parts you've described is missing.

From looking closer at your car picture Vwgtiking, the air con rad looks curved inward so maybe a crash damaged vehicle?.

Call me  :stupid: but the 2 screws your having difficulty in finding a mounting point are fixed into this point with the dark shaded circle/squares on the plastic bar below the bonnet lock. This is where the torx screws fit and from what I remember the bumper rests.

I will remove grill tomorrow as that takes 2 secs and try and get pics.

Found this pic which shows the 2 screws i don't have nor anything to screw into.
